Why People Come to Us About Their Brows

Permanent makeup problems fall into four groups. Adding more pigment fixes none of them, which is usually what people have already been told to do.

The colour has gone orange, grey or blue

Iron oxide and titanium dioxide pigments break down unevenly. The warm components go first and leave whatever is underneath deciding the colour for you.

The shape was never right

An over-extended tail or a brow that sits too high cannot be undone with more pigment. You can only add around it, which makes the problem bigger.

You were offered colour correction instead

Correcting adds another layer over pigment that is already wrong. It buries the problem rather than solving it, and the base keeps fighting the corrector for years.

Laser near the eyes feels frightening

It is a fair worry, and the answer is shielding. Rigid protective shields go over the eye and stay there for the whole session, so no energy can reach it.

Whichever one you have, the answer starts the same way: a free consultation and a facial patch test, so we can see how your pigment actually behaves before you commit to anything.

What Makes Cosmetic Tattoo Removal Different?

Cosmetic tattoo removal is a different job from body-ink removal. The pigment sits shallower, the skin is more delicate, and the work happens millimetres from the eye, so it needs smaller spot sizes, gentler energy settings and protective eye shielding throughout. Our PicoWay system handles that with the precision facial work demands.

Pigment depth is the first difference. Microblading and powder brows are deposited far closer to the surface than a body tattoo, which is why cosmetic pigment often clears in fewer sessions. Epidermal recovery is quicker too, though facial skin sensitivity means the area swells more visibly in the first few days than body work does.

The second difference is what is actually in the skin. Body tattoos use carbon-based and organic pigments. Permanent makeup (PMU) uses iron oxide and titanium dioxide, and those behave very differently under laser energy. Some shift colour before they clear. Knowing which you are dealing with before the first full session is the whole point of the facial patch test.

Why Permanent Makeup Changes Colour

Most people come to us because a brow has shifted colour: iron oxide and titanium dioxide pigments oxidise over time, turning warm tones orange and cool tones grey or blue. It is not a sign the original work was bad. It is chemistry. The warmer components of a mixed pigment break down first, leaving whatever is left behind to define the colour.

Sun exposure accelerates the colour shifting. So does pigment placed deeper than intended, where it reads cooler through the skin than it did on the day. Neither is something you can fix with more pigment on top.

How We Protect Your Eyes During Brow and Eyeliner Work

Rigid protective shields sit over the eye and stay in position for the entire session. They are not adhesive pads or goggles worn over the face. They are shields that physically block the treatment area from the eye, and nothing starts until they are seated and you have confirmed you are comfortable.

That is the standard for any laser work this close to the eye, and it is why we can treat permanent eyeliner at all. If a provider is treating brows or liner without them, that is worth asking about.

Removing Permanent Makeup vs Colour-Correcting It

Some people want the colour gone so a technician can start again on clean skin. Others want shape or asymmetry problems undone rather than covered with more pigment. In both cases, lightening first almost always produces a better final brow than colour-correcting over pigment that is already wrong.

The logic is simple. Correction adds a layer. If the underlying pigment has shifted orange, a cool corrector sitting over it has to fight that base every day for years. Clearing the base first gives whoever rebuilds the brow a clean canvas and a predictable result.

Shape is even clearer cut. You cannot remove an over-extended tail by adding pigment. You can only add more around it. Lasering the overhang lets a technician rebuild the shape properly rather than chasing symmetry with more ink.

We are honest about the limits. Some shifted pigments respond quickly, while white and light-toned cosmetic inks are genuinely stubborn and can darken on the first pass before they start to clear. The free consultation and patch test tell us which you are dealing with before you commit.

If you want the detail before booking, our cosmetic removal guides cover what a microblading session actually involves, why pigments shift colour, and how we work safely near the eye. Or come in. The consultation and patch test cost nothing.

The difference

Why Choose Us for Permanent Makeup Removal?

Eye protection is non-negotiable

Rigid protective shields go over the eye and stay in position for the entire session. Nothing about the treatment starts until they are in place and you are comfortable.

Precision built for facial work

Small facial areas need small spot sizes and controlled energy, not body-tattoo settings scaled down. The PicoWay system gives us the precision that brows, eyeliner and lip blush demand.

Honest about the hard pigments

Some shifted iron oxide pigments respond quickly. White and light-toned cosmetic inks are genuinely stubborn and can darken before they clear. We tell you which you have before you commit.

Lightening usually beats correcting

Colour-correcting over pigment that is already wrong adds a layer rather than solving the problem. Clearing first almost always produces a better final brow.

Realistic on facial downtime

Facial skin swells more than body skin. Expect one to three visible days. We will tell you that up front rather than after you have booked around an event.

No judgement, ever

Most people arrive frustrated about brows that went orange or a shape that never sat right. We are here to fix it, not to comment on who did it.

Step by step

How Our Permanent Makeup Removal Works

  1. 01

    Assessment

We look at the pigment colour, how deep it sits and whether the problem is tone, shape or both. Colour and shape problems need different plans.

  2. 02

    Facial patch test

A small test on facial skin tells us how the pigment responds and confirms the settings. Facial skin reacts differently from body skin, so this matters more here.

  3. 03

    Treatment sessions

Rigid eye shields go in first. Short, precise passes with cryo-cooling running throughout, spaced six to eight weeks apart.

  4. 04

    Recovery or re-do

Once the skin has fully recovered you either leave it clear or take it to a technician to rebuild the brow on a clean base.

Most cosmetic removal courses run three to six sessions over four to nine months, with noticeable facial swelling for one to three days after each visit.

What Clients Say About Our Permanent Makeup Removal

5.0 out of 5 from 22 Google reviews

The staff is amazing, very professional, knowledgeable, and make me feel comfortable throughout the entire process, especially Kate. They provided me with the right information regarding the treatment, how to take care of it, how many sessions were needed. The area where this takes place is very clean and tidy and they are using the latest technology.

E Estrellita Maria Neira Google review

Kelly made me feel relaxed and explained the process very well. Throughout, she took her time and only proceeded when I was comfortable to and made sure I knew what to expect from each session. Expect some discomfort with removal, but Kelly made sure to go at my pace.

B Beth Jones Google review

She is so knowledgable and truthful about the whole laser process. I was with a previous removal company and I was disappointed with the results. But the results here have given me complete confidence. She is so kind and empathetic.

Permanent Makeup Removal Questions

Can you remove microbladed eyebrows?

Yes. Microblading pigment sits shallower in the skin than body ink, so it often responds faster, typically three to six sessions. We use protective eye shielding throughout, smaller spot sizes and gentler energy settings suited to facial skin.

Is laser safe that close to the eyes?

Yes, with correct shielding and technique. Rigid protective shields are placed over the eye and stay in position for the whole session, so no laser energy can reach it. This is standard practice for cosmetic pigment work and the treatment does not begin until the shields are seated properly.

Why did my brows turn orange, grey or blue?

Iron oxide and titanium dioxide pigments oxidise and break down unevenly over time. Warm-toned pigments lose their cooler components and leave an orange base behind; cool-based pigments and titanium dioxide can leave a grey or blue cast. Sun exposure and pigment depth both speed the shift up.

Should I remove the pigment or have it colour-corrected?

For minor tonal issues, correction can work. Over already-saturated pigment it usually buries the problem under another layer rather than solving it. Lightening first gives a technician a clean base and almost always produces a better final brow. For shape or asymmetry problems, removal is the only route that actually fixes it.

How many sessions will cosmetic removal take?

Usually three to six for brows, sometimes fewer for partial lightening before a re-do. It depends on the pigment used, how deep it was placed and how much has already oxidised. The facial patch test gives us a much better read than a guess from a photo.

Can I have my brows re-tattooed afterwards?

Yes, once the skin has fully recovered, usually several weeks after your final session. Plenty of clients only want partial lightening for exactly this reason, clearing enough for a technician to work on a clean base rather than taking everything out.

How much swelling should I expect?

Noticeable swelling for one to three days is normal on facial skin, more than you would see on body work. The area darkens immediately after treatment before it starts to clear. Plan around anything you have coming up in that first week.

Do you treat permanent eyeliner and lip blush?

Yes. Eyeliner is the most delicate cosmetic area and is treated with the smallest spot sizes and the lowest workable energy. Lip blush pigments vary a lot in how they respond. We assess both at consultation and are honest if we think the result will be limited.
